The Return.....

So yes it has been about 2 months since my last post but I have been to busy or to lazy to update my blog :-) No major news to report other than new litter updates and they are on the website on the nursery page. I also have a few pigs for sale that are not listed on the sales page so e-mail me if you would like to know what else is available until I can get pictures of them and put them on my sales page.
Sorry this post isnt longer but keep checking back for more updates :-)

Crossing Over The Rainbow Bridge.......

Sunburst my PE cream/white peruvian show prospect was found dead in her cage today :-( IT appears that she died in her sleep as she was laying down as if she was asleep when I found her. Sunburst was born on March 15, 2009 just 2 days shy of being 2 months old.  She leaves behind her brother, mother, and her father.  She follows her sister who died when only 2 weeks old.

I find it strange how quickly they leave us like a thief in the night, no farewell to prepare us for their departure. As silent as a whisper in the dark they're gone. In life they seem so energetic and easy to please. Just by filling up the feed dish or refreshing the hay rack was always enough to set off that happy squeal and a session of popcorning all over the cage. How fragile life really is......here one day gone the next. Farewell little angel.......your journey on this earth has come to an end......do not fear for a new journey begins......on the other side of the rainbow bridge......no more pain will you suffer.......joy and peace you will forever have as your new life begins.......in never ending fields of green.......flowers as far as the eye can see.......you are free now.......free to be......always.

BEYOND THE RAINBOW

As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played,
I was so very tired and knew my time on earth would fade

I saw a wondrous image then of a place that's trouble-free
Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity.

I saw the most beautiful Rainbow, an on the other side
Were meadows rich and beautiful - lush and green and wide
And running through the meadows as far as the eye could see
Were animals of every sort as healthy as could be
My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new
And I wanted to go run with them, but I had something left to do
I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I'm alright
That this place is truly wonderful, then a bright glow pierced the night
"Twas the glow of many candles, shining bright and strong and bold
And I knew then that it held your love in it's brilliant shades of gold.
For although we may not be together in the way we used to be
We are still connected by a cord no one can see
So whenever you need to find me, we're never far apart
If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart

Summer......

So it is once again summer here in the southeast or at least it feels like it. I know we have yet to see the horrible temperatures that are yet to come but this heat and humidity is almost unbearable in the summer months. Thankfully the heat isnt as high as it is gonna get and niether is the humidity.

I removed the AC unit from the caviary and cleaned it with the water hose. The inside vents get really nasty and full of dust and hair and it casues it to freeze up and not cool as effiecently as it would otherwise. I also cleaned a few cages that really needed it and once again ran out of shavings mid clean :-( I will have to go and get some more before friday.

No new babies to report but I do have some peruvian sows that unexpectedly are in the late stages of pregnancy :-) I love baby piggies :-) they just give life to the caviary :-) The teddy babies are growing up so fast :-) & I cant decide which boar to keep but I will eventually make up my mind and keep the best of the litter :-)

Some of the show prospects are not going to work out :-( With this weather they are more prone to chew if they get the slightest bit wet or if they get to haot but shoot I keep it at about 70 all summer long but there is always someone who thinks they cant bare the heat :-( Others I just wasnt happy with their type or coat so I put them into group living.

We have a show in Lenior City Tennessee this saturday and I so hope I make it but i am worried about the heat but it is supposed to be only 77 but shoot that is only 3 degrees from being 80 :-( & with my pigs i dont think they will appreciate the heat at all. I am hoping it will be cooler for most of the day since it will be about 57 the night before the show so maybe it wont warm up to bad. I am sure it will be a small show as this show usually is a very small show but I do like to support our local shows because once they do away with the cavies they dont usually bring them back :-(

I dont really have anything super stunning to show because all the ones I want to show are way to young to be competitive but then again you never know and i am really picky on what i show I suppose but that is usually a good thing :-)

It's Getting Hotter......

Yes folks it sure is getting hotter down here in the south & I am not a heat person by any means. It feels like about 80 right now but it could be cooler but any time i start sweating well that means it is too hot for me :-) I cleaned out all the cages and I declare I must have sweated a 5 gallon bucket of sweat! The good thing is I got all the cages cleaned :-)

So now for the caviary news well not to much is happening at the moment I do have a teddy sow that is about to pop and she just doesnt want to have them. She has been dialated for days so hopefully she wont go more than a few more days she has got me a nervous wreck :-(

Oh before I forget I also got 4 more peruvians and satin peruvians from Renee of Celebrity Cavies :-) I got 2 satin dilute broken sows and one dilute broken carrier sow and a cream boar. I know I know but his mother was a nice broken silkie sow so we have high hopes for him here at Dynasty :-) The sows are pretty nice especially the carrier as the others are still young but exhibit very nice type at such a young age :-) They are just now getting settled in after such a long journey from Specialty I have to say a huge Thanks To Jennifer Petersen for working things out in a pinch as my first transport didnt work out and to Amy Phillips for bringing all the pigs down to South Carolina where I picked them up on Tuesday :-) Thanks you Gals :-)

On the show prospect front well I have about 9 pigs in show cages so we will see how they turn out. I have some very promising texels and peruvians in the mix. A few in particular have cought my eye as they have that something special I always look for especially in the texels :-) One in particular is a red/white out of my RIS persephone. He is one in particular that I think will do exceptionally well on the show table. I also have his 2 PE white brothers that I am coating out and they are pretty descent too just dont have that extra something I see in the red/white :-) We will see though sometimes they surprise me at the last minute ;-)

That is about it for now no other news to report as of now and when that teddy sow pops i will put those babies on the nursery page so be on the look out for Dynasty's first ever teddy litter :-)

Pigs, Pigs, & Puppies????

So yes I have lots of pigs and lots of babies once again. SO much for thinking I was going to have a break from birthing sows not that I am complaining as all babies are welcome :-) I have had some really nice babies born and I am super excited to see how they turn out. I was able to fit one more stack of the 24 x 16 quality cages that I bought from  friend in the caviary so more room for evaluations :-) I do have to move one stack to open the door to get out but hey it is worth the extra work having more space for more pigs :-) I have another stack of 5 that will go in when we expand the room or move to a place with a larger shed or room for my pigs :-)

I am sure you all have seen Montecristo on my kings page well I am just tickled about this pigs prospects. He is massive and has a coat to die for. His black could be deeper but hey 3 out of 4 aint bad :-) He will not be very competitive until he is in full senior coat which will be in about 8-9 months. This of course depends on how nice he is about not chewing or flipping out on the show table. My fingers are crossed on this one. I dont want another embarrassing repaet of what I went through with Mosaic.

So I havent updated you all on my puppies. Yes jasmin gave birth on March 26th to 4 healthy pups. 3 girls and 1 boy. They are so cute but it was a chore helping her out. I was up until the last pup popped out about 3:15 a.m.  and ddint get to sleep until 5. Anyhow there were 2 tan/white ones 1 chocolate/white one and one black/tan/white one. One of the tan/whites is a boy and the rest are girls. They will be 3 weeks old tomorrow. I am attaching some pictures when they were 2 weeks old so enjoy.

Show Results :-)

So the show this past saturday was a huge success :-) In all 3 shows Red Sonja (REO/White peruvian sow) took BOSB and of course Bella (TSW texel sow) took BOB in all shows too :-) The highlight of the day was when Bella took BIS under Don Petersen! What a great day for my 2 superstars! This was Bella's last show and she went out with a BANG so to speak! I was so proud that she was able to follow her fathers footsteps and take a BIS. Even though her father took 2 BIS's I couldnt ask for a better end to her show career. In the other shows Jennifer Petersen took BIS with a superb broken silkie boar and Don took RIS with a gorgeous white american :-) Congratulations to us all :-)

On the home front well nothing new to report although I did have another litter of peruvians born on the 27th of March I just havent had time to get them posted on the nursery page. I also picked up those cages I bought from a friend at the show and put 3 into use since that is all the room I have at the moment until we can expand that room.

I place 3 texels into show cages and 2 peruvians. I had to take on peruvian out of the circuit because he chewed. I cant blame him though it was my fault as he sucks down the water and he didnt have any on sunday because I was too tired when I got back from the show on saturday.

I cut Bella down and placed her in a breeding cage with a few other sows and all hell broke out so i had to remove her to a cage by herself until i get a boar that I can put in with her. I thought things would calm down after a few hours but it was still War World II yesterday.

BTW Darcy that was a good joke about selling of your longhairs. You had me going there for a moment :-)

Baby Pictures :-)

So I finally got my first litter of coronets :-) I am so pleased as they are all sows and are big ole pups :-) 3 cream/whites & one that looks PE white but could be like her mom and turn lilac on me as she grows :-)

BTW Darcy if you read this send me your link banner (if you have one) & your website address so I can add you to my links page :-) An anyone I dont have on my links page if you want to be added just send me an e-mail dynastycavies@aol.com :-)

A Visit From The Stork....

So I have been visited by the stork :-) the Cavy Stork that is :-) Dahlia, my TSW peruvian sow From Galatea lines, Finally had another litter :-) She had one pup on the 13th and if she had been born one day later then she would have been born one complete year after Dahlia's previous and only litter :-) I am keeping her in with a new boar this time to get her backbred and hopefully she wont wait and entire year before getting bred again :-)

Karisma, my REO/white peruvian sow from Valerie Blaes' line also had pups today :-) she had 4 pups 2 are cream/white and 2 are beige/REO/white :-) the cream/whites are sows and the other 2 are boars :-) Pretty good mix of sexes if I do say so myself :-) I am very pleased with the litters and with Karisma since this was her first time and she went through it like an old pro :-)

I am now waiting on Season to have her litter :-) I hope she delivers with no complications as she is 3 years old :-( I am hoping she can pull through this as this will be her last litter and she can become a nurse maid for other sows :-) Season is lilac/REo/white and I am hoping to get a lilac/REO/white peruvian out of her. The sire to this litter is a PE white out of 2 brokens. The sire to the PE white is related to Season so hopefully I will get a lilac/REO/white out of this breeding :-) It would be nice for her to go out of breeding with a bang so to speak :-)

All the previous litters are growing like weeds and i am happy with their progress :-) I also have my eye on a few show prospects that are turning out extremely nice :-) I have 2 Beige/REO/white peruvian boars that I am coating out and a TSW peruvian boar being coated out as well :-) I also have a lilac/cream/white texel sow that I have high hopes for this summer ;-)

I also put a few teddies into breeding :-) I put in the cream/white boar with the REo/white sow that I got from Mike Ginders stuff & I hope to put the REO/white boar in with my GA/red/white sow once I can confrim she has been bred by my GA/red/white boar :-) If she is pregnant I will hold off until she has weaned the pups before I breed her to the REO/white boar since she carries the pink eyed gene I have a very high chance of getting more dilute brokens :-) which is what I want :-)

Desert Sonya, my lilac/white coronet sow, is due to have her litter in a few weeks maybe less since I cant be sure on when she was bred :-) I have been wating to get a litter of coronets for what seems like forever and these are the coronets I got from Renee Martin of Celebrity Cavies :-) I am very excited about getting my frist litter of coronets from this sow :-)

Seems like my dilute program is going so nicely :-) I am proud of how far I have come these past few years :-) I am glad I have been dedicated and have culled hard for what I am getting now :-)

How's the Weather.......

It is cold today and my sinuses are screwed up thanks to the heat wave we were having :-( It was so nice the past week and my sinuses were tolerable and now with this cold spell it is chaos. Anyway I am sure it is a temperary issue.

So lets talk "Cavy" talk :-) I am happy to report I was able to place 20 pigs in a new home :-) What a blessing that was as I needed the extra space. I sent a mixture of texels and peruvians to live with a nice older gentlemen from Alabama. He is doing this as a hobby but he doesnt intend on showing and at least they went to a descent home :-) I made $200 on that sale. Of course all the proceeds will be going to feed and bedding costs :-)

The latest litters are doing very well and growing like little weeds :-) & i am expecting at least 3 more litters in the near future :-) I have 2 peruvians that are heavily pregnant and 1 coronet sow that is due she doesnt seem to be as pregnant as the peruvians but she is a rather large sow so time will tell. I am excited about getting a litter of coronets & hope everything goes well for this first time mother :-)

On the chihuahua front well Jasmin is very pregnant and due in a few weeks :-) I am ever so anxious about this pregnancy and have had second thoughts obviously a little too late since she is pregnant. I just hope everything goes smoothly and she has no complications :-) I am keeping my fingers crossed she comes throught his like a pro. This is her very first time but I waited till she was 2 years old so I am hopeful things will be ok.

The Wake Of Disaster......A New Dawn Begins......

I must say that this has been one heck of a weekend in more ways than one. To start off the Dalton show was a great success despite a few personal dramas. Mosaic, my lilac/REO/white peruvian boar, was not happy about being at the show. He went through the first show with no problems but they wanted to just move them to the second judges table to get them out of the way but Mosaic was ansy and was acting up. He was not cooperating at all with the judge and once judging was over he lost it. He went flying off the show board when I was trying to wrap him. He did this 3 times and on the second time I had a a wod of hair in my hand and he went one way and left the hair! Show career over! I was so dissappointed as he had so much potential as a show pig............

Bella, my TSW texel sow, took BOB in 2 of the shows :-) I was so proud of her she is a NICE little sow and she knows it! She has amazing type and curl and density to die for. You can see her on my Queens page on my site! So nice! I had hoped she would take a RIS but the competition was STIFF to say the least but I am proud of her accomplsihment! I hope to show her at least until the summer.

In other news......I picked up 4 teddies to add to my teddy program. 3 are Pink eyed and one, the baby, is a GA/red/white sow. These are out of Jaylene Dixon's line of teddies so i am excited about these newest additions. I got 1 PE cream/white boar, 1 REO/white boar, 1 REO/white sow and of course the little baby. The only thing I hate is that on the pedigrees for the boars it only states broken for variet :-( it doesnt say what color broken just broken :-( Oh well at elast I hve them i guess.

I also picked up 2 more coronets from Megan Rygel of Glory & Co. Caviary :-) I am so excited about these 2 as they are very nice! I got a red/white boar and a tsw sow and they are nice chunky babies :-) I plan on adding them into my dilute broken program to improve size and density.

ON the home front I am excited to annouce that I have had 3 litters of pups born over the past few days. 2 texel litters and one peruvian litter :-) In the peruvian litter I got my very first home bred lilac/cream/white pups! All 3 of them are nicely marked and all are boars but I am not complaining :-) I have put all the newest additions on the nursery page so you can check them out there :-)

Pieces Of The Puzzle......

Yes trying to get the puzzle put together is quite daunting and takes some hard work but I am happy where I am thus far in my program both in texels and in peruvians. I can honestly say I get lots of "showable" babies from my texels but that doesnt mean I am going to show all of them. I look for that little something extra that not all texels are born with. I cant explain it but I am sure their are other breeders out there that do the same and can see that little extra potential in their animals. I have yet to be dissappointed my any of the texels I show :-) In fact each of the special ones I coat out win multiple BOBs, and in fact I have had them go on to win BIS and RIS :-)

Now I must be doing something right if a judge can see my hard work in these particular animals. I am pleased with where my texel program is and if I were more diligent about sepreating pups from the mothers I would have lots of babies to show but that doesnt mean they all have that extra something special. I have been lucky though I always have a special pig to show & that excites me beyond words. I am seeing the proof of my breeding tactics come to life and that is such a satisfying feeling. As a breeder i look for animals with that something extra and those are the ones I want to use to improve my line as a whole.

I know I am doing something right & i must say I have Jennifer Petersen to thank for that. She has always been a great help to me and is truely a mentor to me. Thank you Jennifer :-) She always compliments me on what I am doing with her line of texels and how far I have come with my dilute peruvian program. Even though they are no where near where they need to be I am proud of there progress :-)

Cavies, Hamsters, & Gerbils Oh My.....

SO I cant remember if I had posted on here about my Dwarf Hamsters or not and I am sure I posted about my gerbils. Well Yesterday my gerbil had a litter of 6. Today there are still 6 :-) and both parents are keeping them warm. Hopefully they will be able to raise them to adult hood. We will see how it plays out.

On the hamster front well not much to tell there really I have 4 of them and 3 are together and one is seperate because the others were attacking it. So needless to say the lone hammy is tailless because of the others attacking it.

On the Cavy front well no news to tell there either. I did however pull a few more boars and put them into a cage by themselves to see if I can get them coated out for the fall. I now have all 10 cages full of potential show prospects. Only 3 are sows out of the 10. I usually dont like to show a sow really especially if she is super nice but I made an exception on these because they are really typey.

I only have one texel out of all these litters I have been having that I feel is worthy of being shown because they have been chewed :-( One of the bad thing about texels even if you put 2 super animals into breeding you're more likely to get junk than nice animals. I am  to the point to where I need to think about downsizing my texels in order to have room for the other breeds and varieties I want to focus on. I hve to debate a little longer on that one and decide which ones will go. I pretty much know which ones are staying without question but there are a few others I need to think about.

I probably will need to downsize on the peruvians as well just not as much. I have been getting some stellar dilute brokens here recently so I will have to put more thought into that one before I make a decision on the peruvians.

Feb. 14th, 2009

Jinxed In The Worst Way......

Yes I Jinxed myself. I had just been talking to a friend at the show we had in Perry about pigs dying when you go out of town for any lenght of time and I had made the statement that I would just die if this certain pig dies since she is one of my best breeders well low and behold she was dead when I got back from the show :-( She had 4 babies in her that were about 2 weeks away from being born. I was so bumbed out about jinxing myself like that. She was a silkie and is the Dam of Mosaic and Daydream you can see them on my kings page. At least I have those 2 boars and 2 of her daughters around.

No new litters but I do have a texel and a coronet that are hugely pregnant so my fingers are crossed that nothing goes wrong with them.

Ame is still remarkably well :-) Her pups are doing good too. I am having to supplement them with KMR soaked bread since the sow is a first time mom and she is rather thin so I just want to make sure the pups have extra nurishment. The good thing is I have 3 daughters of Ame, the 2 newborns and the sow from her previous litter.

I have also decided to try and let my sows get to senior weight before putting them into breeding I just want to see them all make senior weight from now on and if I wait till they make senior weight then I wont have to worry about them making weight. I am not having problems granted but I do seem to have sows that take forever and a day to make senior wieght if I breed them at 4months old. We will see how this goes since this is all hypothetical at the moment.

I managed to clean cages yesterday mind you I still have a few to clean since they werent dirty enough yesterday. They only house one or 2 pigs and they are the big cages and they can usually go a few days longer than everybody else. That saves me some time on cleaning day and it staggers the cleaning which is actualy better in a way. Even though i am cleaning more times per week it isnt as hard on me and doesnt take as much time to do.

My skinnies are in breeding now and hopefully i will have some skinnies for sale in a few months or so. They are the hungriest pigs I have ever seen! They never stop eating or drinking or pooping for that matter! They eat more than a cage full of sows and babies together and their is only 2 of them to a cage! They are wierd little critters but they are fascinating. Maybe I can improve their type since they are really bad type wise. They have weak shoulders and a small head. i need to purchase a really nice american pair to start crossing them with the skinnies and see if their type gradually improves. This will take me many genrations to do and it may be futile really but it will be a nice learing experience.

Shocked & Amazed........

Wow these little critters must be the most resilient creatures on earth. Amethyst is doing well as of today and she was eating adn drinking within a matter of hours after her accident. I am amazed at how well she has pulled through what looked to me like certain death! BOth horns of her utuerus were outside her body yet she is fine today. I guess I did everything right or as right as they could be done in a situation like that. I put her in the sink and flushed it with a saline solution and warm water and made sure their was no dirt or shavings on anything and put it back in as best I could. Seems to have worked :-) THis is my first ever prolapse and I hope it is the last for a long while. Gruesome site it was never seen anything like it before in my life.

Her babies are doing well at least the last 2 surviving pups are well. They are being fostered by Bianca a red/white peruvian sow  that gave birth that same morning but lost 2 of the 4 pups she had. So now she has her complete litter and they are all doing well thankfully.

No new births to report and no one is expecting anytime soon except maybe one of my coronets sows. She may be do in the next few weeks we will see how that progresses.

Show news at last. I took BOB texel but seeing as how she was the only one there it is a dissappointing acheivement to say the least. My teddy sow took BOSB in the second show and my junior peruvian sow took BjrB and my senior boar got very nice compliments and took BOSV. Nothing to shout about but it was a nice show and it was really nice to get away for the day and talk amongst friends :-)

The overall winners in the first show was Tara Mcpharland with a Satin Abby and Freddie Brooks with a broken peruvian boar. In the second show it was Jennifer Petersen with a broken silkie and Becca Whalen with a cream american. Congrats you guys for the well deserved wins!

Sorrow & Sadness.......

Today my beautiful Amethyst (GA/Red/White Peruvian Sow) had her litter and she prolapsed her entire uterus :-( I am so full of sadness right now and I feel so sorry for her :-( It was horrible to see that happen. SHe prolapsed on the 4th baby and on the 5th it was gruesome. I am not sure at this point if she will make it or not and if she does she will be my sweet pet till the end of her days and if not she will be sorely missed. She is a very personable sow I am am sick to death over this.

She did however manage to deliver 3 little sows :-) which is a nice surprise :-) I put those babies in with a sow that had her litter this morning but she lost 2 of the 4 not sure what happend if they were born DOA or what their faces were clean so not sure. I guess in a way these little babies are going to be her legacy here at Dynasty and that is sad in a way. Her first litter she lost because they al died inside of her because she couldnt deliver them on her own due to there size. Her second litter I got 2 sows one of which I kept and named her Moon Goddess. I do at least have her father and her brother in the breeding pens so her legacy is a strong one here.

Finally a show to attend......

Well next saturday i get to go to a show in Perry Georgia YAY! Even though I dont have very much to show what I am showing is of such good quality it makes up for the numbers at least in my eyes it does. When you are coating out peruvians it really gets hard to have multiple animals that are in senior coat to get them ready for the show table. I am showing 2 teddies a boar and a sow, 4 peruvians only one is coat the others are juniors and intermediates, and one texel sow and she is a nice one! I will have to take a picture of her and put her on my site even though she is maybe an intermediate/junior not sure since I havent weighed her. So that is it for news her at my caviary no new births but I do have a few more sows ready to pop! I am hopefull that they will be nice babies and that the moms wil have no trouble delivering in case i am not there to assist.

Jan. 28th, 2009

Website Updated FYI.......

I updated the nursery page of my website so you can see the babies that have been born recently. I just havent gottne around to putting the satin peruvians on the site that were born. All in due time i suppose. So I am attaching a picture of my Chihuahuas so you can see my babies. The brindle and white is Jacob and the chocolate and tan is Jasmin dont they make a cute couple :-)

Duty of a Midwife......

That's right folks I am a cavy midwife and proud of it. Just last night I had to hand deliver 2 huge pups. Their were 3 all together but the very first one was DOA and looked a like it had been dead for a day or so. This sow in particluar is not the best delivering mom I have and needless to say she was cleaning the pups that were born 3 days ago go figure. Anyway The second pup came out with a little help from me I just had to pull on it gently. Now once this pup had been delivered I know I waited a good half an hour and she wasnt having very many contractions and the ones she had were strained so i jump inot action. I pull her from the cage and check the birth canal and their was no baby in the canal. Now i decide to feel in the birth canal while pushing from the outside maneuvering the pup into position and with great caution I was able to get the pup into the canal and began adding pressure from both sides of the sows abdomen. It took some doing but the head finally popped and this pup was huge. I was able to get it out with no harm to the pup or the sow but had I not intervined the pup would have died inside the mother. The placenta had already started accumulating fluid around the head of the pup so it was a good thing I jumped into action. This pup was a sow believe it or not :-) and the other is a boar both are beige/orange/white but the sow is mostly beige with a snip of orange on her head. I am still proud i knew what to do.

In other news i decided to rehome the rescued gerbils. I was not prepared for the issues they had so it was the best thing I could have done. The 3 girls and the mother were housed in the same tank and I cleaned their tank and the girls killed the mother and it was a gruesome scene to find with blood splattered all over the sides of the tanks. I am not used to murderous rodents :-(

In other news I decided to get some dwarf hamsters so i got 4 of them just this morning. They are so cute but high strung i had forgotten how active they were when they are awake that is. I have 2 PE whites and one argente as they call them and one is.....well is is a pretty grayish brown color and all have pink eyes :-) They are so tiny and ohh so cute :-)

Also the chi's have been at it all week long and today they finally are giving it a rest :-) I guess in 10 weeks I will have some puppies and we all love puppies :-) I will keep you posted on them:-)

Jan. 21st, 2009

Whistle While you Work.........

Yes I am busy at work :-) at least in a way I am. I am cleaning and disinfecting water bottles which is a job in itself. IT will take me a few hours to do all 40 + water bottles especially since I have to do it manually (no dishwasher) but hey at least this way I am sure they are clean :-) My bottles get so funky so quick since I put in the aqua-lyte and the aqua-c into the water.

I have updated my website with new baby pictures on the nursery page and I added a few kings and queens so check them out if you get a chance to. I am not a photographer and I dont have a fancy camara but some of the pictures turned out nice i need to redo a few since they are blury but for the most part I am happy with most of them.

I was coating out a REO/White satin peruvian who I decided to cut down yesterday due to lack of cooperation on his part. Everytime I go to wrap him it is a battle and I get mad so I decided to cut him down for his sake and my sanity. I have very little patience when it comes to an uruley show pig. I do however have  afew that I am coating out that are very calm so hopefully they stay that way once I start wrapping them :-) You can see the newest prospects on the kings and queens page.

I still have about 4 peruvian sows that are heavily pregnant and due any day now so hopefully all goes well in that department. I hope I can catch the mother daughter pair that have difficulties cleaning more than one baby. THe mother will clean the first baby and let the others just slide on out with out any attention and the daughter well she just could care less but she is the one that throughs the black/creamwhite babies so I want to try and catch her so I can save them this go around.

It's Raining Pigs.......

Well not really but it sure feels like it with all these sows having all these babies what was i thinking :-) I did manage to move 20 babies that had to go and wouldnt you know it 2 more sows give birth. Give them an inch of space and they fill it :-) I guess I cant complain at least they are productive even if they do eat more than all my other animals combined :-)

So I have to update my nursery page once again and the sales page is the same & I do have others for sale that are not listed. I just went and bought 400#s of feed so hopefully that will last me a month......hopefully.

I cleaned some cages yesterday so now I only have a few cages to deal with but it is so cold outside I almost freeze to death dumping the trays. I wish I had planned ahead and built it bigger. I never thought I would have this many cavies but I am addicted so what can I do :-)

I have a couple of peruvians I have my eye on for a show career hopefully their coats develop as nicely as their bodies are :-) I also have one texel sow that has a body as dense as a brick and a coat to die for :-) I am hoping she maintains and doesnt chew so i can show her.

I have 5 more sows that are due to give birth in the coming days so those 20 babies I managed to move on will be replaced very shortly.

I plan on putting my teddies into breeding soon but I want to show them each at least once more and see what they do. I only have a pair & I got one from Denise Talbott of North Carolina and the other came from Mike Ginder of Florida. They are pretty nice teddies and the reason I know they are nice is I brought one back from convention to use with my skinnies that is crap! He isnt up to par so I think I may sale him and not even use him with my skinnies and get me a really nice American from someone. I will have to play that one by ear.

I did manage to adopt out a pari of the gerbils I rescued which was nice. One of the gerbils got out and got into one of the bottom cages and the pigs bit the end of his tail off :-0 crazy critter he was in the cage acting like he was supposed to be there all snuggled up to the pigs. I guess loosing the tip of his tail was worth the company so to speak :-) I still have 6 more to adopt out eventually I am holding on to the girls just to be sure they arent pregnant as i would hate to adopt them out and the new owners have to deal with a litter of gerbils.

I also got a wake up call when I wne tinot the caviary one morning and a 3 month old sow had dropped a premature litter of pups. they were about 2 weeks from being fully formed so i assume dad got her pregnant before I removed him since she is so young. She seems fine and is really helping the other sows with their litters so maybe she will be a good mom eventually.

In other news I hope to have a litter of chihuahuas since my little jasmin is in heat and my newest addition Jacob is really interested in her so we will see what happens :-) i will keep everyone updated on them.
